Who Is Jjajja?
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni — “Jjajja” — is known for his bold ideas, fearless leadership, and lifelong mission to fix Africa’s biggest challenges. From his school days, he was already organising, debating, mobilising communities, and pushing people to think bigger.
His political fire sharpened at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he embraced Pan-Africanism and helped build the movements that later removed Idi Amin. In 1986, after a five-year people-powered struggle that began with only 27 guns, he became President — guiding Uganda from chaos to stability.
Under his leadership, Uganda’s economy expanded, roads improved, electricity increased, schools opened to all learners, and access to health and technology transformed daily life. He’s known for championing African unity, supporting regional peace efforts, and hosting refugees with dignity.
Jjajja has earned global recognition for leadership, peacebuilding, fighting HIV/AIDS, and managing national crises like COVID-19. Today, he is seen as a steady voice for security, development, and Pan-African progress — a statesman focused on empowering Ugandans to live better, think bigger, and build a stronger Africa.
